It began with compromise. Which, in the best of sense, is finding a mutual agreement, and being flexible to embrace change, while still being true to yourself.

This I personally find hard to do. As a peace-keeper, I am one to bend and change fairly gracefully and work towards making others happy. Some may perceive this as heroic, some may perceive this as spineless. Both have positive and negative value, depending on the perception.

One thing I know, being a sensitive person, when I feel threatened or unfairness, the nervous system kicks into full gear and I am liable to sting. When I have realized this, the best analogy I have to nature is a jellyfish, a spineless fish that when threatened is liable to sting.

I looked up the jelly fish, to find the totem or hidden medicine 'power' of the animal, to find that:

sensitivity to water energy (emotions), understanding of the value of floating rather than swimming through trying emotional times, proper use of softness (not being rigid), ability to become untangled from the webs of peril in life, acceptance and faith. Jellyfish hold acceptance and faith, knowing and trusting that All That Is will provide the necessary for them to survive. Without the ability to move on their own, jellyfish are creatures that rely on movement to sustain life.

When they move in harmony with the currents of life, they show to us how to flow with the natural forces of the earth. There are some ancient healers who hold the belief that the fabric of true spiritual knowledge is held within the transparent form of the jellyfish.

And so, this small entry is not a literal use of jellyfish for medicine, but it allows me to connect with this seemingly darker side of me, and transform it into a greater strength, to build resiliency, and to soften my acceptance of a difficult situation. Trust in the process and flow of life, and growth will ensue.
