A little note that there are many members of this family:

Soy bean (Glycine max)

Beans, peas, chickpeas

Alfalfa (Medicago sativa)



Licorice (Glychyrrhyza glabra)

Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus)

Red clover (Trifolium pratense)

Sweet clover (Melilotus officinalis)

If a person has a peanut allergy, it does not necessarily mean that all members of the pea family are dangerous, however, it is worthwhile to ere on the side of caution. Cross-reactivity does exist, however it does not always happen.

Interesting to note that almonds are part of Rosaceae (or Rose family) with apples, pears, cherries, raspberries, hawthorne, peaches strawberries. And walnuts and pecans are in Juglandaceae. 

The botanical origins of these families is indeed a lovely study!

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) was originally thought to occur in a small number of patients, however it now appears to be more prevalent, with those in older age at greatest risk, however cases in the 30's are not uncommon (1). There appears to be a link with SIBO and gastric acid production, overuse of antacid and proton pump inhibitor medication, intestinal motility, intestinal obstruction and others. People with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) appear to have a higher rate of SIBO compared to healthy controls in some studies (2-3). In addition people with metabolic disorders such as diabetes, or gastro-intestinal disorders such as celiac disease, chronic diarrhea, and inflammatory bowel disease are at greater risk.

Moxibustion est un mot d’origine japonais qui se traduit comme « plante qui brule ». La moxibustion, ou moxa, a été développée au cours de la dynastie des Tsin de l’Est à l’Ouest et Sud du Nord, pendant les années 265-589 ap. J.-C. . La moxa a été introduit en dehors de la Chine en 1683 par le docteur allemand, Dr E. Kampfer. La pratique de la moxa en Chine a été oprimé en 1840 avec l’impérialisme qui attaquait la Chine et ses cultures de la Médecine Traditionnelle Chinoise. En 1863, on voit la première publication sur la moxa en France. (1)

La plante de la moxa est l’Artemisia vulgaris aussi connue sous le nom de « mugmort », « couronne de Saint Jean », ou « Herbe de Saint Jean ». Ces composants sont des flavoïdes et des huiles essentielles. Les feuilles sont utilisées pour faire la moxa. Elle pousse sur les collines et les sols frais et humides, le long des cours d’eau et des sentiers.

It is well-known within the medical community that frequent NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may cause stomach irritation in susceptible people. Here we see two studies that demonstrate the possible mechanism of action of such irritation (increased gastro-intestinal permeability), and the use of L-glutamine, a non-essential amino acid, as an agent to mitigate these negative side effects.
